Book Club

This past Thursday our little book club got together to discuss Richard Llewellyn's book, How Green Was My Valley. The novel is set in Wales, during the reign of Queen Victoria, and is a story of a Welsh coal-mining family. I loved it! In addition to our little discussion of the book, we enjoyed some delicious Welsh food including leek soup, spice cake, and pie. It was lots of fun...thanks girls!

That sounds like such a good idea! To get together and dicuss and then eat the same type of food in the book. Very fun! Makes me want to join a book club! But I guess I sould starting reading books first =)

I know I'm neither a chick nor in your little "book club," but my wife is and "How Green Was My Valley" is my favorite book, so I'm chiming in.

EVERYBODY READ IT! The simple, evocative Welsh language itself is beautiful enough to give it a read, but the things I learned about life, love and family from Huw and his experiences are still things I draw upon and find parallels to in my life.

Isn't book club fun-- even though the book sometimes doesn't actually make it into the conversation... Thanks for the reading suggestion too!
